FireSafe Council HCT

We are proud to be a part of and home-base to the California FireSafe Council Hollydale, Canyon, Terrace chapter. This effort, creating more defensible space and reducing undergrowth within our lower Russian River community. With the support of the SoCo Chipping Program and Recology, we’ve sponsored free chipping and greens disposal to help reduce excess brush around our homes, roads and community. As part of our community’s wildfire mitigation grant received from the Sonoma County Vegetation Management Grant Program, roadside vegetation management (clearing of all Bay tree growth and dead wooden fuel materials) has begun in the upper Canyon Road, Woodside Drive area, in the Hollydale “Hills” here in the spring of 2023.

FireSafe Council HCT (Hollydale/Canyon/Terrace) of Forestville, CA is a volunteer organization dedicated to making our Firewise USA community safer from catastrophic wildfires with education, resource sharing, partnership, and grassroots action. FireSafe Council HCT is located on the unceded land of the Southern Pomo people now represented by the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria. We acknowledge the impacts of colonization, displacement, genocide, and erasure that Indigenous people have experienced and continue to experience to this day. We intend for our work to be a continuation of a respectful cultural relationship with fire and each other that has been a tradition on the lands in which our community resides. May our collective awareness, education, and advocacy honor the original and future stewards, caretakers, and inhabitants of this land.
