We are proud to be a part of and home-base to the California FireSafe Council Hollydale, Canyon, Terrace chapter. This effort, creating more defensible space and reducing undergrowth within our lower Russian River community. With the support of the SoCo Chipping Program and Recology, we’ve sponsored free chipping and greens disposal to help reduce excess brush around our homes, roads and community. As part of our community’s wildfire mitigation grant received from the Sonoma County Vegetation Management Grant Program, roadside vegetation management (clearing of all Bay tree growth and dead wooden fuel materials) has begun in the upper Canyon Road, Woodside Drive area, in the Hollydale “Hills” here in the spring of 2023.
FireSafe Council HCT (Hollydale/Canyon/Terrace) of Forestville, CA is a volunteer organization dedicated to making our Firewise USA community safer from catastrophic wildfires with education, resource sharing, partnership, and grassroots action. Contact us at email@example.com to voice your concerns and help the effort to reduce the risk of a catastrophic event in our neighborhood…having 100 feet or more of defensible space can help save homes and lives.
Join us for our next community event on October 15 from 1-3pm at the Hollydale Community Club (+Zoom), hosted by Forestville’s FireSafe Council HCT with guest speakers from FireSafe Sonoma and Environmental Resource Solutions. We have an abundance of things to celebrate, including becoming Firewise, publishing our first Community Wildfire Protection Plan, breaking ground on our Shaded Fuel Break, and a few new fun surprises. Plus, we’ll have tasty food and drinks to share!
And most important, we have more free money. Come find out how to use it!
Learn how we’ve already have used free money to reduce roadside vegetation, creating safer evacuation routes on Canyon, Scenic, Woodside, and Terrace
Learn what’s happening with our shaded fuel break and how you can help with our upcoming work party on November 4
Learn what’s been unlocked by becoming Firewise certified, including homeowners insurance incentives, discounts, and resources
Find out how to use more free money, tools, and resources to assist you with creating defensible space and home hardening
And while you’re at it, consider joining our inspiring neighbors at Green Valley Farm + Mill for their Resilient Forest Series on September 24 and October 22, presented in partnership with Sonoma County Ag + Open Space. Workshop attendees will learn landowner technical guidance in a similar landscape, see a complete shaded fuel break (ours will closely resemble theirs!), learn outcomes and ongoing plans for using prescribed burning, and hear from special guests sharing Indigenous land stewardship knowledge. And, they’ve extended a free promo code to us as neighbors – just plug in ForestSteward to attend for free. Visit bit.ly/forestseries to register and for more info.
Let’s make it rain on the tail end of this fire season.

FireSafe Council HCT is located on the unceded land of the Southern Pomo people now represented by the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria. We acknowledge the impacts of colonization, displacement, genocide, and erasure that Indigenous people have experienced and continue to experience to this day. We intend for our work to be a continuation of a respectful cultural relationship with fire and each other that has been a tradition on the lands in which our community resides. May our collective awareness, education, and advocacy honor the original and future stewards, caretakers, and inhabitants of this land.

Hi this was my first time at the Corned beef event, I absolutely loved it. I go to all the breakfasts that I can attend, so now this event is a must do every year. Thank you for all the great memories. Your little clubhouse brings back all the memories of the many years I spent as a kid up on the Old Russian River in the summer..It is so community.. Big hugs and slap on the back and high fives to all the hard working folks who put all these wonderful events on. Thanks again.
