C.O.P.E. – Community Organized
to Prepare for Emergencies

Greetings from the Lower Russian River

My name is Cynthia Halliday. I am a retired Sonoma County psychotherapist living in the Hollydale neighborhood of Forestville. I am working with several neighbors in the Hollydale/Terrace/Canyon area who all want to see the development of a community/neighborhood organization that serves one another in our neighborhood, especially related to disasters and emergencies.

We kicked off the introduction of our COPE Program with a community interest meeting on January 17, 2025 as an in-person meeting with Northern Sonoma County COPE Program and Sonoma County Unified Fire District. We hope to support neighborhood go-bag prep, radio communications, and evacuation drills along with brush clearing and chipping events throughout 2025.

The 79 year old Hollydale Community Club has continuously served as the central gathering place for the Hollydale/Terrace/Canyon neighbors and surrounding areas since 1947. It’s recognized as a West Sonoma County Resiliency Center along the lower Russian River and the home base for our Fire Safe Council HCT and Firewise Community Group. We hope to also make it the Central Communication Center for our newly forming COPE Group.

Interested in learning more about HCT COPE?

Reach out to Cynthia and the HCT COPE team at hctcope@gmail.com and request to join their email list, take their survey, or offer to get involved. The next HCT COPE meeting is Monday, April 13th, 2026 from 6:00-7:00pm at the Hollydale Community Clubhouse. “Ongoing Community Meetings” held on the 2nd Monday each month.

Come let your voice be heard by your HCT Leadership!

This meeting is for all who live within the Hollydale area to share concerns, ideas and desires for work that needs to be done within our neighborhood community to prepare us for emergencies related to fire, flood, earthquake or tsunami in our area.

Let’s be an actively engaged Community Organizing to Prepare for Emergencies by knowing each other as “neighbors helping neighbors”.

Let’s BE READY:

Do you have your “Go Bag” ready? It is time to make sure all necessary items are pulled together and easily obtained on a moment’s notice for evacuation.

Have you seen & filled out our COPE survey to make sure you get any assistance you may need?

Do you have your “EVAC Pack” ready? Do you know which evacuation routes you and your neighbors are planning to use? Which ones are emergency personnel going to be coming in on?

Do you have a communication plan with someone inside your neighborhood and outside the area for when an evacuation order comes?

Do you have a communication “back up plan” when Landlines, PG&E and Cellular Towers go down?

C.O.P.E. can help provide answers and help with your concerns and needs. We can say that COPE creates HOPE – Let’s Do this Together, see you there!

Hi this was my first time at the Corned beef event, I absolutely loved it. I go to all the breakfasts that I can attend, so now this event is a must do every year. Thank  you for all the great memories. Your little clubhouse brings back all the memories of the many years I spent as a kid up on the Old Russian River in the summer..It is so community.. Big hugs and slap on the back and high fives to all the hard working folks who put all these wonderful events on. Thanks again.
